Special Message: Important Vaccine Eligibility Update

March 16, 2021

Dear Members of the Yale Community,

Yesterday, Governor Lamont announced a change in the schedule of the state’s previously posted phases of COVID-19 vaccination eligibility. More specifically, Connecticut will continue to expand vaccination eligibility on the basis of age but with an accelerated timeline:

  • March 19, 2021: Scheduling opens to all individuals age 45 to 54;
  • April 5, 2021 (tentative): Scheduling opens to all individuals age 16 to 44;
  • Scheduling remains open to all previously eligible individuals.

How to schedule your appointment:

Since vaccine supplies and vaccination appointments vary depending on the vaccination site, you should check frequently and broadly for the appointment that works best for you. The options for scheduling are summarized below:

  • The Yale COVID-19 Vaccine Program (the Yale Program) sends invitations for the Lanman vaccination clinic to eligible Yale employees and Yale Health members. If you are a Yale employee or member of Yale Health, you do not have to register for the Yale Program but should make sure that you have signed up for MyChart and regularly monitor the email address you use for MyChart. The Yale Program posts current availability of appointments at the Lanman Center on its website for those individuals who have received invitations and have not yet made appointments.
  • The State of Connecticut’s newly simplified zip-code based scheduling portal provides appointment scheduling and availability information for clinics, health systems, and pharmacies throughout Connecticut:
    • Some of the vaccination sites you will find through this portal offer direct scheduling while others still require registration through the Vaccine Administration Management System;
    • Some vaccination sites require you to provide information commonly found on your insurance card in order to schedule an appointment—so have your card ready. If you are a Yale Health member, you may download or print a version of your Yale Health insurance card, which contains the required information.
  • Telephone assistance with appointment scheduling is available:
    • From the state’s Vaccine Appointment Assist Line (877-918-2224), from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., 7 days a week;
    • From Yale’s Campus COVID-19 Resource Line (203-432-6604), 7 days a week.

Scheduling appointments through one site will not disqualify you from eligibility at others, but if you schedule multiple appointments please be sure to cancel those that you do not plan to use so that others may take advantage of them. Above all, I encourage you to schedule an appointment as soon as you can once you become eligible.
